SSA Science Mentorship Program

The SSA Science Mentorship Program at the University of Manitoba is designed to offer support and guidance to new incoming students as they begin their journey as science students on campus. The program pairs new students (mentees) with experienced senior science students (mentors) who can help them navigate the challenges and opportunities that university life brings.

The primary goal of the program is to provide new science students with insights and advice from those who have already gone through similar experiences. By matching mentors and mentees based on their academic and personal interests, the program aims to create meaningful and relevant connections that foster a supportive learning environment.

Mentors and Mentees will have the chance to meet regularly either in person or through virtual sessions (whichever is more convenient). During these meetings, you can freely discuss any matters you wish, whether it's about courses, campus life, or just your shared personal interests.

Additionally, we are planning to host a few fun events throughout the year for all of the mentors and mentees to attend!

How to become a mentor:

By becoming a mentor, you'll have the rewarding opportunity to support new science students, offering them guidance and advice based on your experiences. Moreover, your involvement as a mentor grants you the chance to earn CCR credit and gain valuable leadership experience for your CV!

The call for mentors for the SSA Science Mentorship Program is now closed.
